See What Our Students Have To Say

Everyone wants to shine. The MIANC has given me this opportunity through their outstanding knowledge in the field of cosmetology. The amazing instructors provided me with the confidence and skills I needed to succeed not only as a student, but as a professional!

Paige Workman – Mendenhall, MS

After working in Radiation Oncology for 17 years, and at 40 years old, I decided it was time for a career change. I spent months researching schools in my area. Upon my first visit at the Mississippi Institute, I knew this was the school for me. The staff was so helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I knew that I would get a quality education. I always had an interest in skin care. At Mississippi Institute I found I have a PASSION for it! At times it wasn’t easy driving the 100 miles a day or leaving my 3 children and husband, but the staff at the Mississippi Institute always lifted me up! They were instrumental in getting me through those tough days. Thank you Mississippi Institute for giving me the start to endless opportunities, and for giving me a career that I look forward to going to everyday!

Teresa Rahaim – Hattiesburg, MS

I love that learning in class didn’t feel like a chore. It was always a blast. And though it was a very professional environment, there was always fun waiting around the corner. The instructors never left our side and when I had a question I was never afraid to ask. The people of MS Institute are responsible for the professional Aesthetician I am today.

FAQs About Our Nail Technician Program

Can I apply for financial aid?

We encourage all prospective students to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). Financial aid is available to those who qualify. If you have questions, contact our financial aid department.

Do I have to get a license to offer nail services to clients?

Yes, in Mississippi, you need a license to offer professional nail services. Our Nail Technician Program prepares you to sit for the state exam, so you can pursue your license.

How much time is spent learning and practicing skills?

Our Nail Technician Program includes a combination of theory and practical work. In general, students devote 140 hours to learning principles and techniques, such as manicuring, pedicuring, mending nails, applying artificial nails, and more.

Should I take the Nail Technician Program or the Cosmetology Program?

The answer to this question depends on a number of factors. If you are primarily interested in nails and you prefer a shorter program, our Nail Technician Program could be the best choice. The Nail Technician Program offers the most advanced training related to nails. However, if you are interested in learning multiple aspects of the beauty industry, you may be a good candidate for our Cosmetology Program. As a student in the Cosmetology Program, your main focus is on hair services, but you also learn the basics of nails, skincare, and makeup. The Cosmetology Program takes longer to complete than the Nail Technician Program.
