Credit given to transferring students from another licensed cosmetology school will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Students enrolling in our Aesthetics Program or Nail Technician Program are not allowed to transfer hours or grades from another school. Students enrolling in Cosmetology may not transfer more than 750 clock hours from another school.
Yes, we accept students who are using VA funds to pay for their education. In accordance with Title 38 USC 3679, the Mississippi Institute adopts the following provisions for any students using the U.S. Veterans Affairs (VA) Post-9/11 GI Bill (Ch. 33) or Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment (Ch. 31) benefits: While payment to the institution is pending from the VA, the Mississippi Institute will not (a) Prevent the student’s enrollment, (b) Assess a late penalty fee to the student, (c) Require the student to secure alternative or additional funding, or (d) Deny the student access to any resources available to other students who have satisfied their financial obligations to the institution. However, to qualify for this provision, such students may be required to produce the VA Certificate of Eligibility by the first day of class, provide a written request to be certified, and provide additional information needed to properly certify enrollment as described in other institutional policies.
New classes begin on the first Tuesday of each month, with New Student Orientation occurring on the Friday before the start date. You will receive information about your specific start date upon acceptance to our school.
Classes are held Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Students are allowed two 10-minute breaks during the day, for which they are not required to clock out. Daily lunch breaks are a maximum of one hour, and students are required to clock out. Full-time students usually accumulate 32 clock hours per week
Financial aid is available to those who qualify. Our admissions team works closely with the Financial Aid Department during the enrollment process, and we can help explain your financial aid options.
