If getting a quality beauty school education is your goal, we want to help make it possible. Mississippi Institute of Aesthetics, Nails, & Cosmetology participates in Title IV Federal Financial Assistance programs. Student financial aid is assistance that helps pay the cost of education for those who qualify. Funds included in this aid may be provided from several sources, including federal, state, and private agencies. Most financial aid recipients receive a combination of more than one type of assistance program, such as Federal Pell Grants and Federal Direct Student Loans. Find out how to apply for financial aid, and contact us if you have any questions.
A beauty school education is an investment in a beautiful future!
The Federal Pell Grant is available to undergraduate students who have demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA®. Unlike a loan, the Federal Pell Grant does not have to be repaid. Pell Grants are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s degree or a professional degree.
Subsidized loans are for eligible undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need to help cover the costs of school. Interest does not accumulate on the subsidized loan while the student is enrolled at school. This is money that is borrowed from the government, and you will need to pay it back.
Unsubsidized loans are also federal student loans that must be paid back. Unlike the subsidized loans, the undergraduate student does not have to demonstrate financial need to be eligible. Interest begins to accumulate once the loan has been disbursed.
The Federal Parent PLUS loan is credit-based and available to parents of dependent undergraduate students to help pay for the student’s educational expenses. Parent PLUS loan borrowers cannot have an adverse credit history and must meet the general eligibility requirements for federal student aid. Repayment begins immediately after the loan is fully disbursed. This type of loan can be combined with other financial aid resources and cannot exceed the student’s cost of attendance.
You may be able to get a student loan from a local bank, credit union, or other financial institution. The bank will likely need to know where you are planning to attend school and how many hours you will be attending. This could be a good option for people who do not qualify for federal financial aid.
You might see a note on your Student Aid Report (SAR) saying you have been selected for verification, or your school might contact you to inform you that you’ve been selected. Verification is the process your school uses to confirm that the data reported on your FAFSA® form is accurate. If you’re selected for verification by the Department of Education, we will request additional documentation that supports the information you reported. Verification must be completed before any aid will be awarded. Our financial aid officer will tell you what is required.
If you used the Internal Revenue Service Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DRT) when filling out your FAFSA® form, you may not have to verify that information. Your school may require you to submit an IRS tax transcript or a signed copy of your income tax return as part of the verification process if:
You can find your tax transcript through the IRS’s Get Transcript service at irs.gov/transcript.
Scholarships are an excellent way to help pay for beauty school because they typically do not need to be repaid. Scholarships that you could apply for that are specific to a beauty school education include:
Tuition is different for each program, and the total amount that you have to pay depends on the amount of financial aid you receive. Contact us for any questions relating to our financial aid process.
Give us a call or fill out a form right now, and we’ll set up a time for you to discuss your financial aid plan with a representative from our financial aid office. You may also be able to discuss financial aid during your school tour.
